Samsung has officially revealed the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the company’s latest book-style folding phone. It’s bigger and better than previous versions, and it also has a price tag to match.

TheGalaxy Z Fold 7has the same basic form factor as previous models, with a cover screen you can use while the phone is closed, and a large square display you can use more like a tablet. The extra displays and folding components adds more depth to the phone, but Samsung has trimmed that down in this model. It’s now only 8.9 mm thick when folded, which is quite the improvement from the 12.1 mm depth of the Fold 6 when folded. The phone is also lighter than theGalaxy S25 Ultra, at just 125 grams.

The outside cover display is slightly larger than in the previous model, going from 6.3 to 6.5 inches across, and the main screen has jumped from 7.6 to 8 inches across. They’re still using high-quality AMOLED display panels with a variable refresh rate up to 120Hz, so everything from playing games to doomscrolling should look fantastic.

The hinge in the main display is also thinner and lighter, while Samsung says the “advanced armor aluminum” in the frame and hinge increases strength by 10%. On top of that, the cover display is using Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, just like the Galaxy S25 Edge. That should all make the phone more durable, but the Fold 7 still can’t match its non-folding competitors: the water and dust resistance is still IP48, not IP68.

There’s the usual pile of camera improvements, too. The Fold 7 has a 200MP wide-angle camera that should deliver brighter photos than previous generations, but that lens doesn’t have optical zoom—there’s just a 3x optical zoom on the 10MP telephoto camera.

The Galaxy Fold 7 ships with Android 16 out of the box, with Samsung’s customized One UI 8 software. It’s powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, which is already being used in the Galaxy S25 series.

There is at least one catch: support for the S Pen stylus appears to be gone. That helped make the phone an even better productivity tool, and it’s not clear if Samsung removed the feature due to low usage or some other issue. Between this and theGalaxy S25 Ultra’s stylus changes, it’s not a good year for S Pen fans.

Samsung said in its announcement, “[the] Galaxy Z Fold 7 is crafted for those who want the everyday portability and intuitive feel of a traditional smartphone, combined with the enhanced power and flexibility of a larger, unfolded display — all in one device. With its ultra-thin and light design and wider cover display, Galaxy Z Fold7 delivers a seamless on- the-go experience that makes typing and browsing effortless when it is folded.”
