Summary
After an unusually long wait, Samsung has finally started rolling out its official One UI 7 (based on Android 15) update for many of its devices, starting with the Galaxy S24 series. And while that’s great, and it’s arriving as promised on April 7th, it’s not all good news.
Following months of beta testing and countless delays, in March, Samsungconfirmedthat it was almost ready to update millions of new phones to the latest version of Android. Eventually, the company said thingswould start on April 7th, then April 10th, and continue arriving on multiple different devices in several regions.
According toreports out of South Korea, it’s officially happening. Users with the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, and Galaxy S24 Ultra have started getting the stable One UI 7 Android 15 release. Here’s what you need to know.
Which Galaxy Devices Get One UI 7 First?
In this first wave, Samsung is updating all the Galaxy S24 models, along with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, in its home region of South Korea. Then, additional areas around the globe should start seeing something similar on April 10th. Samsung did mention April 10th for U.S. users, then removed that information from its website. Either way, it’ll be here soon, although carriers in the United States may delay things by a few days.
If you have a Galaxy S24, Z Fold 6, or Flip 6 and are already enjoying the One UI 7 beta, you’ll likely get it first. Simply navigate toSettings > Software update > Download and install. Otherwise, remain patient, as it’ll slowly roll out to all eligible devices within the next 24–48 hours. It’s a relatively minor update for beta users, but if you’re coming from One UI 6, it’ll be a big download, and Wi-Fi is recommended.
While wepreviously shareda list estimating when the One UI 7 Android 15 update would arrive for other Galaxy phones, things are subject to change. Now, thanks to comments on the officialSamsung community forums (via X), we have both good and bad news.
Aside from the Galaxy S24 and Z Fold/Flip 6 series, here’s the official Samsung Galaxy Android 15 release timeline, at least for Korea:
As you’re able to see, countless devices are on track to get the update in the coming 2–3 weeks. Unfortunately, things might take a bit longer than expected for many of Samsung’s more affordable models.
If some users truly wait until June for Android 15, that’s pretty bad. Maybe you should just wait for One UI 8 and the Android 16 update. Interestingly enough, we’re hearing afew rumorsthat it’ll start arriving way early, as soon as July. That’s because Google’s moving the timeline up, and Samsung’s already working on it behind the scenes.
Either way, this is finally some good news. The Galaxy S24 series is getting Android 15 today, and millions of users with all sorts of Samsung phones and tablets should see the update hit their devicessoon.
