ASUS has sold many Chromebooks over the years, including some of the best models, and the company is continuing that trend at Computex 2025. ASUS just revealed four budget Chromebooks with 14 and 15.6-inch screens, as well as a 14-inch Chromebook Plus model.

Chromebook CX14/CX15

First up is the 2025 Chromebook CX14 and CX15, which are mostly identical except for the screen size. The CX14 has a 14-inch 1920x1080 display, while the CX15 has a 15.6-inch screen with the same resolution and a numeric keypad. There are also a range of color options depending on the model, including ‘Mistey Grey,’ ‘Washi, ‘Fabric Blue,’ and others.

All four laptops are powered by an Intel Celeron N4500 processor with Intel UHD graphics. That’s a low-end CPU thatIntel released in 2021, and in benchmark tests, it’s abouthalf as fastin multi-core operations asIntel’s current low-end processor, the N100. ChromeOS isn’t as fast and optimized as it was years ago, now that it runs an Android virtual machine layer (andsometimes a Linux container) alongside web apps, so that old CPU will probably still struggle under more demanding productivity workloads.

Thankfully, the connectivity options and port selection are solid. You get one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port, which can be used for USB, charging, or DisplayPort 1.2 output. There’s also one HDMI 1.4b, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. One more USB-C port would have been helpful, but you can alwaysadd a hubfor more ports. You also get Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.4.

The CX14 has 64 or 128GB of storage, depending on which model you buy, while all versions of the CX15 have 128GB storage. Both Chromebooks are sold with either 4 or 8GB RAM. That old Celeron CPU paired with 4GB RAM isnotgoing to be a fun time for more than a few Chrome tabs.

Chromebook Plus CX14

ASUS also announced a more powerful model, theChromebook Plus CX14. This is one of many laptops from various manufacturers withGoogle’s ‘Chromebook Plus’ label, giving it access to additional Gemini AI features and other functionality. It has a similar design and 14-inch 1080p screen as the regular CX14, but with some important hardware changes.

The main difference here is the processor: instead of an old Celeron, it has anIntel Core 3 N355 CPU. That’s still on the lower end of Intel’s laptop processor lineup, but it’sfaster than the N4500 and N100. Combined with the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, this laptop should be able to juggle tabs and Android apps without much difficulty.

ASUS also added another USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port, bringing it to a total of two USB-C and one USB-A, and upgraded to Wi-Fi 6E. It seems like a decent mid-range laptop if a Windows PC or Mac isn’t for you.
