Browser tab management is harder on a phone than on a computer or tablet. You don’t usually get visual tabs across the top of the screen, so they pile up out of view. Let’s look at how to close tabs on your Android phone.

Every browser deals with tabs differently, but the same rules generally apply to most of them. We’ll be focusing on Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Mozilla Firefox on Android phones in this guide.

Tap the tabs button.

Close Tabs in Chrome for Android

First, openGoogle Chrome for Androidand tap the rounded square with a number inside. This icon is usually in the top right.

Now you’ll see all the currently open tabs (along withany tab groups you’ve created). Simply tap the “X” icon in the corner of a tab to close it.

Tap the X icon.

If you close a tab by accident, tap the “Undo” button that appears at the bottom of the screen after closing a tab.

You can also close all the tabs at once by tapping the three-dot menu icon on the Tabs page and selecting “Close All Tabs.”

Tap “Undo."

That’s all there is to it.

Close Tabs in Microsoft Edge for Android

First, openMicrosoft Edge for Androidand tap the rounded square with a number inside in the bottom toolbar.

Now you’ll see a grid of all the currently open tabs. Simply tap the “X” icon in the bottom corner of a tab to close it.

Select “Close all tabs."

Edge also allows you to close all tabs at once from the Tabs page with the “Close All” option at the bottom.

Close Tabs in Firefox for Android

First, openFirefox for Androidand tap the square with a number inside in the bottom or top toolbar.

Now you’ll see a grid of all the currently open tabs. Simply tap the “X” icon in the top corner of a tab to close it.

Tap the menu icon.

You can close all tabs at once from the Tabs page with the “Close All Tabs” option from the three-dot menu.

Firefox also has a handy option forclosing all tabs every time you leave the browser, which may be worth checking out.

It’s tempting to keep a ton of tabs open at all times, but that can slow down your phone and use data in the background. Plus, let’s be honest.You probably don’t need all those tabs open, anyway.

Tap the “Undo” button.

Tap “Close All."
