Sleeker Profile vs. Modern Design
Before we dive in, let me give you some perspective on the Flip 7 FE’s design and build. It uses the same chassis (and materials) asSamsung’s Flip 6. If at any given point, you feel like you’ve seen it somewhere, now you know the reason why. With that out of the way, let’s begin with the comparison between the Flip 7 FE and the Razr 2025.
The Flip 7 FE, like the Flip 6, features a folder-shaped cover screen, which doesn’t look all that appealing to me in 2025, especially after seeing the Razr 2025’s edge-to-edge implementation. The Razr does leave some unutilized space above the cover screen (unlike the Razr Ultra), but even so, the way its screen encapsulates the cameras makes the phone look slightly more premium.
Despite being based on an older model, the Flip 7 FE isnoticeably slimmerthan the Razr 2025, both in its folded state (14.9 mm vs. 15.9 mm) and in its unfolded state (6.9 mm vs. 7.3 mm). However, you won’t feel a difference in their weight (as it differs by merely a gram).
Talking about materials, bothphones use Corning’s Gorilla Glass(Victus 2 on the Flip 7 FE vs. Victus on the Razr) for the cover screen and an aluminum frame to secure the internal components in place. While Samsung’s affordable flip phone is available in only black and white finishes,Motorola’s clamshell is available in four different finishes, each featuring a unique back material.
Last but not least, both phones feature anIP48 dust and water resistance rating. Despite these differences, both flip phones do an excellent job of folding in half and amusing the enthusiast inside you.
Motorola’s Razr Offers Bigger Screens
On the Flip 7 FE, you get a 3.4-inchSuper AMOLED cover screenwith a 60Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits (similar to the Flip 6). Unfolding the phone reveals the 6.7-inch DynamicLTPOAMOLED 2x screen, which supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and shines as bright as 2,600 nits.
The standard Razr 2025 offers a 3.6-inch AMOLED cover screen that’s smooth (90Hz refresh rate), brighter (1,700 nits), and much sharper (413 ppi vs. 306 ppi) than the one on the Flip 7 FE. On the inside, the phone features a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED panel, which supports a similar refresh rate but a higherpeak brightness(3,000 nits) than its rival.
To summarize, the Motorola Razr offers a superior visual experience, both with the cover and the inner screen.
Exynos 2400 vs. Dimensity 7400X
Samsung’s Flip 7 FE is powered by the Exynos 2400 (4nm) deca-core processor released as a flagship chipset inJanuary 2024 with the S24 FE. It features a 3.2 GHz prime core, the Xclipse 940 GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage.
Like other Fan Edition phones, the Flip 7 FE isn’t afull-fledged flagship, and hence, using an older chipset (as theExynos 2500is already out) could help the company keep its costs under control. I wouldn’t call the processor outdated, but it isn’t exactly the latest or most powerful option available on the market.
On the other side of the tablet, the Moto Razr ships with the Dimensity 7400X (4nm), a mid-range chipset featuring four 2.6 GHz performance cores, a Mali-G615 MC2 GPU, 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and256GB of UFS 2.2 storage.
For those catching up, the chipset is based on the Dimensity 7400 processor (released in February 2025), but offers better power optimization for foldables. Though itisn’t very popular in the United States, it powers plenty of affordable mid-range handsets in India (priced around or below $350).
While the chipset surely helps Motorola make the Razr 2025’s pricing more accessible, it doesn’t stack up well against the Exynos 2400. In fact, benchmark scoressuggest a significant performance gap between the two, with the Flip 7 FE emerging as the top performer.
Hence, if raw performance is your priority, which also gives your smartphone the headroom toaccommodate future operating system updatesand still function well, you should consider the Flip 7 FE. However, if you’re looking for a flip phone for its design and will use it primarily for regular browsing, scrolling, and texting, you may also consider the Razr 2025.

One UI 8 vs. Hello UI
Like the rest of the lineup, the Flip 7 FE runs onSamsung’s One UI 8.0, which is based onAndroid 16. The new user interface introduces updates to several system apps, includingSamsung Health, Samsung Internet, My Files,Quick Share, and more.
While the Flip 7 also getscamera sharing with Gemini Live, there’s no mention of the feature for the Flip 7 FE in Samsung’s official press release. Anyway, the FE does get theNow Brief app(introduced with the Galaxy S25 series), along with access to hands-free Gemini Live (with multi-app functionality).
And yes, you’ll getseven years of operating system and security updates, something that only Google has been able to match so far.
The Razr 2025 runs on Hello UI, Motorola’s custom user interface that adds only a few useful features (such asMoto Gestures) and leaves the rest of the Android operating system untouched.
You also get plenty of AI-based features, such as the Moto AI Assistant, which can process tests, summarize notifications, andcreate images(among other abilities). While Galaxy AI boasts an extensive list of features, Motorola offers fewer yet interesting options, including"Pay Attention" and “Remember This.”
Unlike Samsung, Motorola has only committed tothree years of software supportand an additional year of security fixes.
Flip 7 FE Can Record 4K60 Videos
Both the flip-style foldables have a similar camera setup, but there’s a stark difference in their capability.
So, the Flip 7 FE features a 50MP (f/1.8, OIS) primary sensor (bigger than that on the Razr 2025), a 12MP (f/2.2, 123°)ultrawide sensor, and a 10MP (f/2.2) selfie shooter, all of which can record4K videos in 60 fps(which is very typical of an upper mid-range handset in 2025).
You also get the Galaxy AI photo editing features, includingAudio Eraser,Generative Edit, Live Effect, and Portrait Studio, among others.
The Razr 2025 features a 50MP (f/1.7, OIS) primary and a 13MP (f/2.2, 120°) ultrawide camera, along with a 32MP (f/2.4)selfie shooter. However, they can only record 4K videos at 30 fps (a clear example of the lack of processing power).
On the positive side, you get features likeGoogle’s Magic EraserandMagic Editor.
Razr 2025 Has a Bigger Battery
The Flip 7 FE does provide better software support and 4K60 recording, but there’s one aspect where the Razr 2025 truly redeems itself: battery life.
While Samsung’s affordable flip phone features a 4,000 mAh battery (supports 25W wired / 15W wireless charging), Motorola’s Razr sportsa 4,500 mAh Si/C battery(supports 30W wired / 15W wireless charging).
In hisreview of the Razr 2025,How-To Geek’sJoe Fedewa writes how the handset “can comfortably last a full day of moderate use, which is not a small feat for a folding phone,” and I couldn’t agree more.
Both phones feature a USB-C port, but the Flip 7 FE supports the fasterUSB 3.2 standard, whereas the Razr 2025 supports the slower USB 2.0 standard.
What Flip Phone Is Right for You?
The Flip 7 FE offers a superior processor, unmatched software support, and the option to record 4K videos at 60 fps, if that’s something you’re interested in. Motorola’s Razr, on theflipside, provides better screens and a larger battery.
Therefore, based on your priorities, you can select the phone that best suits you. If you’re not someone who upgrades their smartphone every year, I’d recommend the Flip 7 FE.
However, if you just want an affordable flip phone to handle your daily tasks (perhaps you want to try the form factor), you’re able to’t go wrong with the Razr 2025. It costs $260 less than the Flip 7 FE, and that might be worth compromising on the additional processing power and software updates for you.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE
Samsung’s most affordable foldable brings the Flip experience to more people. But with lower-end materials and an Exynos chip, it’s a tough sell at its current price.
Motorola Razr 2025
The Moto Razr 2025 refines the popular foldable clamshell design with key upgrades for enhanced durability and performance. It features a robust titanium-reinforced hinge and an improved IP48 rating for dust and water resistance, making it more resilient for daily use.
I’ve also compiled other comparisons between theFold 7 and the Fold 6, theFlip 7 and the Flip 6, and theFlip 7 vs. the Razr Ultra (2025), in case you want to check those out.
