If you are looking for yet another streaming subscription service, both ESPN and Fox will be launching new platforms in the coming weeks that are perfect for sports fans. Today, in a surprise turn of events, thetwo companies announcedthey’ll let you bundle them together for one monthly fee, saving you a bit of money.
Earlier this year,ESPN revealedits new “All Access” streaming service, which essentially bundles any and all ESPN channels, sports, ESPN bets, and all ESPN content into one app and streaming platform. It’lllaunch later this monthfor $29.99 per month. It’s a bit expensive, but considering the wide range of content, sports, and regional networks under the ESPN umbrella, it’ll be solid for sports fans.
At the same time,Fox Oneis another new streaming service that no one has asked for. It delivers live sports and WWE, along with news and more from Fox News, Fox Sports, FS1, FS2, and more. It’s another somewhat decent comprehensive package for $20 per month. Sure, that’s a bit cheaper than ESPN, but it doesn’t have as much to offer. Both of these launch on August 21st.
However, if you’re somehow interested in both, ESPN and Fox are now bundling their massive bundles together into one super bundle of endless sports and news.
Instead of subscribing and paying for both platforms separately, you can bundle them together at a discounted rate. Starting October 2nd, you can purchase access to both ESPN Unlimited and Fox One for only $40 per month, a savings of $10. This one purchase will get you access to both apps and all the sports you can handle.
Here’s what a Fox One representative had to say: “Viewers will have access to an incredible portfolio of content through this bundle, including NFL, NBA, WNBA, MLB, NHL, College Football and Basketball, NASCAR, INDYCAR, UFC, as well as the upcoming FIFA World Cup, and more as we continue to look for opportunities to streamline the user experience, especially for the ultimate sports fan.”
While this is honestly a pretty good deal, it’s odd to see it arrive so late. By October 2nd, we’ll already be a month into the NFL season, several weeks into NCAA Football, and more. This means fans will have to find other ways to watch for the first month or longer. If ESPN and Fox wanted the best chance of locking in users, they’d get this out the door before the end of August.
In related news, if you’re already paying for DirecTV and its MySports package, you’ll getfree access to ESPN’s new platform. Then, Verizon Wireless isgiving out the NFL Sunday Ticket for freeto those upgrading their phone or data plan, which is another solid way to watch the NFL.
For everyone else, you may want to consider checking out this new combined deal from ESPN and Fox, as it’ll likely be a solid option for sports fans everywhere who have otherwise cut the cord.
