Release Date:28 May 2025
The Hinokami Chronicles 2is an exciting follow-up to the highly successfuloriginal.
If you’re a fan of the anime/manga and played the first game, I’m happy to report that the sequel is even better (at least according to early gamer reviews). I’m not surprised, as the amazing action-packed gameplay combined with the breathtaking visuals and storytelling make for an excellent experience.
9Gradius Origins

Rail shooters arefew and far betweenthese days, so it’s great to see a beloved classic coming back in the form of a remake. The House of the Dead 2: Remakeis a revival of the 1998 game and a follow-up to thefirst game’s remake, which received modest but positive reception from fans.
Theremakewill feature updated graphics and audio, branching levels, and co-op, but otherwise stays largely faithful to the original.
7Mafia: The Old Country
Mafia: The Old Countrywas already in the headlines a few months ago when the publisher announced a $49.99 release price, especially during talks about the Switch 2’sMario Kart Worldcosting $80.
Of course, the main reason you’d getThe Old Countryat launch isn’t just the reasonable price tag, but the fact that it’s a new entry in a series with some of the strongest heritage. While most fans dislikedMafia III, the first two games and their definitive editions have received plenty of praise in recent years, so it’s exciting to see a whole new entry that’ll hopefully be another success story.
6Gears of War: Reloaded
Release Date:08 July 2025
Gears of War: Reloadedis essentially a 2025 remaster of the 2015 remaster,Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, which itself was a remaster of the 2006 original. While it might sound excessive, it’s been ten years since the remaster, and video game technology has advanced massively.

2Shinobi: Art of Vengeance
Release Date:16 July 2025
Shinobiis one of Sega’s most iconic hack-and-slash side-scrolling games, and this new action platformer stands as some of the best the genre has to offer.
The stunning hand-drawn art style, combined with super-smooth animations and combat, could makeArt of Vengeanceone of the best, if not the best,Shinobigames to date. I can’t wait to see the fan feedback when it releases at the end of the month.
1Lost Soul Aside
Lost Soul Asideis a new RPG published by Sony. Interestingly, it was developed by a small Chinese team as part of the PlayStation Hero Project. Following the massive success of the Chinese gameBlack Myth: Wukong, I believe the market is now ready for another unique Chinese action RPG.
InLost Soul Aside, you play as Kaser, a hero on a quest to save his younger sister and the rest of the world. With stunning graphics and intriguingly complex skill-based upgrades, the game looks very exciting for fans of true RPGs, and I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy if it winds up being as good as it looks in the trailers.
Here’s Every PC Game Coming Out This August

While there aren’t a ton of major releases this month, there’s still a surprising number of new releases for what’s usually a quieter season. Personally, I can’t wait to dive intoMafia: The Old Countryand the full release ofThe Rogue Prince of Persia.
